Identity[]
Vortigern was summoned by the planet into the British Lostbelt in order to destroy it. While in his persona as "Oberon" he is a charming man, in truth, as the King of the Moss, Vortigern is a Threat to Humanity who desires the destruction of both Lostbelt Britain and Proper Human History.[4]
"My name is Oberon. Oberon Vortigern. Now it's time to raise the curtain upon this tragedy!
The pilgrim's journey ends here!"[4]
Oberon is a Servant, as well as a doomsday device (Vortigern) brought into existence by the British Isle. He has appeared in various forms of "malice" up to now (the King of the Moss being one of them), leading the British Isle to its destruction, but having been stopped twice by Morgan who constructed the Queen Calendar, "Oberon" was created as the third output attempt.[1]
"It's disgusting how this practically dead history has survived for more than 10,000 years. I want to eliminate all traces of this island, including everyone who lives here," he said. Nothing more than an insect who was born (ended up being born) from the vomit and excretions of the island's "disgust for living things."[1]
Ironically, the British Isle produced the "Ancient Faerie King Oberon" (古妖精オベロン, Koyōsei Oberon?), but due to Proper Human History's influence infused by Morgan, his Spirit Origin ended up being overlapped with "Oberon, the King of Fairies" (妖精王オベロン, Yōsei ō Oberon?). That is why "his purpose as a doomsday device" and "his nature as Oberon the King of Fairies" coexist within himself.[1]
Vortigern[]
His true identity is not that of a Heroic Spirit from Proper Human History, but a Servant who was born in Faerie Britain. A doomsday device that curses the world, born from the legend of destruction spoken of in Faerie Britain, the Insect of the Abyss that returns everything back into nothing. The name Oberon comes only from Proper Human History.[1]
The physical embodiment of Faerie Britain's will to destroy itself, as it is a land that was built on the sins of fairies and should not exist. His name in Faerie Britain is Vortigern. He shares the same name as the Vile King Vortigern, who led to Britain's destruction by selling out Britain to different races in Proper Human History.[1]
The Autumn Forest, located on the outskirts of the Fairy Country (Wales), is where the fairies who have been bullied and fled home as a result, and fairies who have been persecuted for simply existing and "spreading poison", come to gather and die soon after. Insect fairies with no power whatsoever. Small fairies who couldn't join the circle of fairies in the Fairy Country that mimic human society, due to their innocence and low intelligence.[1]
In the midst of this forest inhabited by those who have nowhere else to go, and those who end up dying in obscurity hated and forgotten, the Vortigern of this era…Oberon was born.[1]
This is the second time the planet summoned Vortigern to try and destroy the Lostbelt. The first time was 1000 years ago, when he led the Moss in a war against Morgan's army. He was defeated back then by Woodwose. As long as Cernunnos continues to exist, Vortigern cannot fully utilize his power.
Appearance[]
Oberon has moth wings and sometimes puts on a cap with moth antennae accessories while in his Robin Goodfellow form. Primarily, Oberon wears a crystalline crown, which is seen in all of his forms.
In his first ascension state, his appearance is more royal. He wears an overall blue long cape with a pastel-green inner side with several roselike symbols. He has long, butterfly wings which further signifies his position as the Faerie King, yet he cannot use them to fly himself.
At his second Spirit Origin ascension form, Oberon wears an outfit better suited for long travels and adventures. An overall white color, a mothlike scarf cloak and thick fur boots make him look like his friend Blanca.
In his true appearance, he has dragonfly wings, and his legs and right arm take on a black insectoid appearance. The legs and body of centipedes, flies, and other vermin can be seen beneath his black cloak- a complete inverse of the original Oberon. When using Lie Like Vortigern, he transforms into a monstrous worm-like creature.

Oberon the Great Liar. His existence, even his name, is a lie. When he revealed his true nature, he declared boldly, "I have nothing I like," the edges of his mouth curling upwards. Of course, this is also a lie. There isn't a single thing that he says that is true.[1]
A beautiful man with hair dark as a shadow, sunken blue eyes, and sharp bony limbs. A perfect blight, as if he were a villain straight from a fairytale. A prince of darkness.[1]
Since everything he says and does is a lie, there is no need for him to tell the truth. He says his purpose in life is to watch people fall to ruins, but there is no way to tell whether he is speaking the truth or not. The reason why he looks down on others and causes misfortune isn't because he loves only himself and wants only himself to be happy. It is because he thinks everyone is simply disgusting. He has no love for others, nor for himself as well. Because Fairy Eyes can see the truth, he looks down on everything he sets his eyes on, and smiles sweetly to hide the discomfort constantly rising in his chest.[1]
His public persona is entirely an act, but Oberon's lies are so perfect that they are not considered "fiction." If he is so inclined, he can live like that and have that be his "true persona." However, since he is cursed and anything he does is considered a lie, it being true holds no meaning to it.[1]
He will never harbor love for any living thing, any human. To Oberon, humans and fairies alike are targets of exclusion that are "unimportant but unpleasant, disgusting but appear happy." Since Oberon can never feel "happiness" all his life, he considers other lifeforms that can achieve happiness just by being alive without any effort or intelligence, to be an eyesore and incomprehensible to him.[1]
"Damn bastards. I'll destroy everything one of these days." Oberon's aggressiveness was not born out of jealousy or hatred, but rather out of his love for Titania. But that is something Oberon will never admit.[1]
Oberon-Vortigern's desire to destroy Proper Human History actually comes from his Oberon side. As Oberon is a fictional existence, he is repulsed by how Chaldea culls away the Lostbelts, since they are fabricated existences as well. He spites humanity and the Proper Human History system for "rejecting" them, and while Vortigern wants to destroy the Lostbelt, Oberon wants to destroy Proper Human History for the stance they take towards "stories". In other words, his hatred for humanity is because of the fact they decide what exists and what does not- and as the lostbelts are stories, rejected by their decision because it is not fit for the world itself, he bears immense resentment for humanity. Despite this, he comes to take a liking to Ritsuka. As he dies he says that the sky they wish to protect really is beautiful, and admits he was doing it for Titania, a being that could only exist in "stories"- fabricated realities; books.
Blanca
Oberon is accompanied by a fairy in the form of a moth named Blanca, his advisor and friend. Blanca is tidy, smart, and above all, a hard worker.[5] The princess of the Autumn Forest of Wales, Blanca fell in love with Vortigern when he first appeared. Knowing what the prince really hated, the princess kept in her heart that she would flutter for him until the end. She believed that it was the only fire that could warm his cold limbs.[6] Blanca dies by absorbing the poison of the Moss that were flowing to Vortigern from across Britain, and Vortigern drops her off the side of the Storm Border.

Fae Round Table Domain: Avalon le Fae[]
Vortigern was summoned to the Lostbelt once again in the same year that Ainsel’s Prophecy gained traction. He was summoned as the Servant Vortigern, but thanks to the influence of the Proper Human History brought on by Morgan’s rule, his identity was mixed with the Oberon written by William Shakespeare. When he materialized in the Forest of Wales, though, Oberon was essentially a living corpse, unable to move or even close his eyes. The Welsh fairies, who thought he was their king, swarmed on and around his body until he gained the strength to move on his own. He understood his function was to destroy Britain, though he didn’t much care for it.[3] But because of Cernunnos’ existence, he couldn’t reach his full potential. Morgan had sealed the dead god away instead of destroying it, so Oberon’s first priority was to ensure her death, to break the seal. From there, he would have someone destroy Cernunnos. Without the means to kill Morgan himself, Oberon had to wait for someone to arrive, capable of undoing the seal on Cernunnos and destroying the dead god.[9] He also used what knowledge of the Proper History he possessed to research the story of King Arthur, Morgan’s archenemy, all so he could manipulate the new Fairy of Paradise.[3]
Leaving the forest, Oberon traveled all over Britain to learn about its current state of affairs. Through his lies, perpetrated by his knowledge of the Proper History, he convinced everyone he came across that he was a Servant from the Proper History and that his character was that of a pauper prince. He eventually discovered many fairies and humans wished to see Ainsel’s prophecy be fulfilled, particularly Morgan's dethronement. Garnering support from leaders like Aurora and Muryan, Oberon used Ainsel’s prophecy, particularly the misinterpretation the Child of Prophecy would become the new ruler, to gather fairy and human alike to form the rebellious Round Table Army, basing themselves in the ruins of Londinium. But understanding he himself has no mind for military stratagem, Oberon had Percival become Round Table’s leader.[10] Percival agreed to lead, believing overthrowing Morgan would free his sister from the queen’s servitude.

At an unknown point, Oberon confronted Barghest in Manchester while she was on the verge of succumbing to her curse out of grief and self-loathing from accidentally eating her sickly human lover Adonis. But considering it too early for that to happen, he sealed her memories and made her think Adonis was still alive.[22][9]
Oberon, at some point, discovered the new Fairy of Paradise, Artoria, was residing in Tintagel. He first contacted her when she was six years old, projecting his voice through her Staff of Selection. Immediately expressing his disgust at her mistreatment by the village’s fairies, Oberon claimed to be Merlin and decided to teach Artoria magecraft. Artoria wished to learn to fly, so she could finally escape the confines of the village. But Oberon told her such magecraft was too advanced for a beginner. Artoria instead asked him to teach her a spell to keep herself warm because where she is forced to sleep, the stables, is cold at night and particularly during the winter. She confessed she had already lost two of her toes from frostbite, leaving Oberon speechless. Oberon would then go on to teach Artoria magecraft, though his lessons were rather hackneyed since he also had to teach himself. His lessons ended the following year, however, when the village found out and confiscated the Staff from Artoria until she turned sixteen.[23]
As the Collapse begins, Oberon tells a confused Mash that there is still a threat to Britain, one that was overlooked since it's been there from the beginning. He then reveals the "Insect of the Abyss" mural was a prophecy left behind by Cernunnos' priestess foretelling the planet's destruction. He notices Blanca has died from absorbing all Britain's malice aimed at him in his stead, then nonchalantly throws her off the ship. An enormous winged worm-like creature then appears in northern Britain and begins devouring the island. Oberon calls it a conceptual insect, an infinite hole that will consume Britain and the planet. It is also him, though he isn't sure which is the main body. Ritsuka demands Oberon to reveal his True Name. Heeding Ritsuka's request, Oberon proceeds to change his form. Not only is his appearance different, but so is his Spirit Origin. He reveals he couldn't reach his full potential if Cernunnos continued to exist. But Morgan had sealed Cernunnos away instead of destroying it, so ensuring her death to break her seal became Oberon's first priority. Without the means to kill Morgan himself, Oberon waited for someone who could undo the seal on Cernunnos and defeat it. It was for that reason that he helped Artoria complete her pilgrimage. He reveals himself to be a fantasy born from the Proper History: Oberon and the embodiment of Britain's will to destroy itself. His name is Oberon Vortigern, the Insect of the Abyss that came to destroy Faerie Britain and humanity.[9]
Oberon admits he seeks to destroy humanity out of pure disgust. He then reveals Faerie Britain's destruction required a variety of factors to be fulfilled, which is why he decided to use Ritsuka as his pawn upon finding them on the beach. His side as Vortigern's purpose is to destroy the false Britain that continued long after its death, while Oberon's purpose is to destroy the Proper History. Chaldea then falls into the Insect of the Abyss.[9]
Inside the Abyss, Oberon is surprised to see Ritsuka alive and awake, saying it will only to lead a more painful death. Ritsuka demands to know where Mash is. Oberon answers she is next to them, though she lacks form because she hasn't awakened yet. That includes everyone else on the ship. Then, describing the Insect of the Abyss as an infinite void, Oberon explains everything swallowed by it will continue to fall for eternity. It is impossible to escape from unless he is killed. But Ritsuka is the only one with form since they're the only one awake. It is also impossible to summon Heroic Spirit inside the Abyss as it is a void never witnessed by human history. Oberon then gives Ritsuka the choice of going to sleep or die fighting him to try and save the world. Ritsuka decides to fight, believing a chance at victory is on its way. The distant star then shines brightly as Ritsuka calls forth Caster. Artoria arrives in a new form in response to Ritsuka's summons, having found her resolve and become a Heroic Spirit. She admits to Oberon that his destruction of Faerie Britain was correct, but she cannot allow him to destroy the Proper History for it still has a future. Mash then wakes up, thereby regaining her form. Oberon realizes it's Artoria's doing and suspects everyone else is awake now. Artoria then asks for Mash's assistance in destroying the source of the Insect of the Abyss before it can propagate beyond Britain. Oberon accepts the challenge and fights the group.[3]
Ritsuka falls asleep amid the battle and encounters Oberon in their dream. Asked by Ritsuka for his true feelings, Oberon admits he despises the Proper History for rejecting fantasy as wrong and meaningless. He believed those fantasies should have the right to continue to exist, and thus he sought to destroy humanity. He then urges Ritsuka to wake up.[3]
Artoria and Mash defeat Oberon, plummetting him down into the Abyss. As he falls for eternity, Oberon finds it strange for him to be so calm. He then sees the sky of the Proper Human History, considering it both beautiful and disgusting.
Other appearances[]
In Lord El-Melloi II Case Files and Melty Blood, Zepia Eltnam Oberon, the director of Atlas, chose the name "Oberon" for himself. In the World of Magecraft, where a resemblance of names holds a deep meaning, the relationship between him and Oberon is a story only he knows.[24]
In Fate/Grand Order Gaius Julius Caesar's profile mentions legends of Caesar having a child with a fairy,[25] referring to how in some stories Oberon is the son of Caesar and Morgan le Fay. Oberon himself claims to have taken advantage of this to get Caesar to lend him money under the pretense of "child support".
Abilities[]
During 12,000 BC, Britain was destroyed by Sefar due to the Sub-Bells of the Beginning not forging Excalibur.[26] Even after the Fairies built a new island, the original Britain was still very disgusted with them. Due to this, it sent Calamities after them to try and wipe them all out. Vortigern is one of them.[9] Furthermore, Oberon is also a Threat to Humanity. Just like Proper Human History Vortigern, Oberon is the embodiment of Britain's will that wished for its own destruction when the Age of Mystery ended.[9][3] Oberon doesn't wish for Humans to trample over Britain's Mystery and enter the Age of Man. The difference between the two is that Lostbelt Vortigern is willing to destroy the World itself to end humans permanently.[3]
Vortigern was originally summoned in Faerie Britain as the King of the Moss,[3] the Great Calamity responsible for the Moss Campaign that lasted hundreds of years.[17][27] In the war, he killed an aged Wryneck, a returned A-Rei holder of the Organs of the Exhaust Heat of the Planet.[27] Woodwose, his next generation, was the one that ultimately defeated him in 1000 AD.[17] As he died, he placed the Black Dog Curse on the Fang Clan, which would one day result on the Calamity of the Beast rising to burn Britain to ash.[22]
When Vortigern's next generation was summoned again centuries later, he was originaly supposed to manifest as an Albion-class Dragon.[2] However, the influence of Morgan le Fay's Proper Human History mixed him with the aspects of Oberon, transforming him into a Pretender-class Servant known as "Oberon Vortigern".[3][2] Faerie Britain doesn't tolerate any interferance from Proper Human History,[18] so he was summoned in a very fragile state.[18][3] For over half a year, Oberon couldn't even breathe. All he could do was lie down and sleep.[18][3] In the end, the cheering voices of the Welsh Fairies helped Oberon secure his consciousness, eventually stabilizing his Saint Graph and waking up.[18] Sherlock Holmes claims that Oberon isn't Human nor Fairy. In fact, he doesn't match any known life-form. Although the Storm Border's sensors can see his Magical Energy signal, it doesn't match any of their data. His Saint Graph changes literally every second.[9]
Unlike other Calamities, Cernunnos was protecting the fairies in a way.[9] He was trying to admonish them for their sins rather than exterminate them.[citation needed] Due to this, Oberon can't surface and unleash his full potential, the Insect of the Abyss, until Cernunnos is gone. Morgan ensured Faerie Britain's creation by sealing Cernunnos away instead of defeating him. As Oberon certainly didn't have the means of defeating Morgan himself, he had to work with Chaldea to get rid of her and the Celtic God.[9]
Combat[]
Oberon utilizes various techniques related to arthropods, insects, and help from his fae to attack his enemies, as well as transforming into his smaller form and fighting with an extremely fast moth. In his true form, Vortigern is capable of utilizing more vile versions of vermin to attack his foes, as well as transform some of his body parts into the parts of various insects and summon weaponry related to a specific bug.
Vortigern killed with a single blow Muryan inside Gloucester, her own Fae Domain.[22] He also killed Portunes with a Curse that ate away his body.[18]
Artoria Avalon claimed that she and Ritsuka Fujimaru needed Super Mash's help to defeat Oberon Vortigern in close range combat. Thanks to all three of them teaming up, they are able to deal serious damage to Vortigern's Spiritual Core, making him fall from the Storm Border's deck. According to Artoria, the Holy Sword is a double-edge blade for Vortigern. It is both a source of sustenance and poison.[3] Oberon's wings are essentially nothing more than decorations as he is unable to fly with them. He playfully laments this after being defeated, falling for eternity in his own Insect of the Abyss form.

Class Skills[]
- Anti-Human Order (D Rank): An ability that puts a stop to everything created by Humanity, as well as the laws that work in humanity's favor. It is a skill originally possessed by the Beast Class. Oberon has acquired the same skill possessed by the Evils of Humanity after deceiving and remaining in hiding for so long. He bears no hatred or resentment toward humanity. He merely wants to eradicate them, an action as instinctive as breathing. To put it simply, it is a form of malice that subtly directs people's hearts (the general atmosphere) to evil, low and cheap tendencies. In addition, Oberon is fatally incompatible with Merlin, another resident of the "Dream World", and refuses all support from him. There is a disconnection caused by a difference in stance regarding stories, and Oberon allocates almost all of his camouflage abilities towards Merlin. As a result, Merlin cannot perceive Oberon. When Merlin sees someone talking to Oberon through his Clairvoyance, said person appears like they are talking to themselves.[1][2] Increases mental debuff resistance against all classes except for the Foreigner class.[2]
- Territory Creation (E- Rank): This rank was rated as such because to Vortigern, a territory considered good does not mean that the land is habitable for its people.[2]
- Item Construction (A+ Rank): At first, he was the type of person who couldn't be bothered to craft items, but when he ended up in a situation where he was forced to do so, he discovered he had a genuine talent for it.[2]
- Riding (A Rank): Reasonably skilled at mounting creatures. He handles intangible matters such as trends, information, and interpersonal relationships with ease.[2]
- Divinity (— Rank): “Haha. As if I’d have any.” Oberon has this skill because his consort is comprised of a combination of three fairies (Mab, Diana, and Titan), and thus he obtains divinity from them. But since Oberon isn't a composite being and purely the Faerie King, he does not obtain divinity.

The events that transpired here is not worthy of truth―" That is how the world's most famous play about Fairies, A Midsummer Night's Dream, closed the curtains, but on the other hand it represents Oberon's nature. In Human History, his words and actions were labelled as lies no matter what he did, so as a result, a curse where nothing about him is true and nothing he says is true has been engraved into him.[1][2] He is 100% immune to mental abnormalities (Terror, Sleep, Curse). (Lostbelt Oberon does not know where this curse stems from.)[2]
- Fairy Eyes (— Rank): These are not Mystic Eyes that Humans possess, but are rather a type of vision that Fairies are born with that allows them to "alter worlds." Prior to his True Name Dissolution as a Pretender, Vortigern possesses the True Name OberonWP (オベロン, Oberon?). When acting as Oberon, his Saint Graph is Ruler.
A Servant who was summoned by the land of Britain to defeat Morgan, the ruler of Faerie Britain. He is a fairy who has been around since ancient times in the British Isles, but this Oberon is heavily influenced by the fairy king from William Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer's Night DreamWP.
Proper Human History[]
In A Midsummer Night's Dream, Oberon is described as having great power, but his character is selfish and unmanly. He has a falling out with his queen Titania over her new changeling, and in retaliation, he creates a potion that makes a person fall in love with the first living thing they see when they wake up in order to make the changeling his. However, because of Oberon's attendant Robin Goodfellow's tendency to slack off, the potion was also given to the humans Lysander and Dimitrius...[1] However, Oberon isn't a fictional character created by William Shakespeare. While "A Midsummer's Night DreamWP" is indeead how he is best known, legends of Oberon, the Faerie King, have existed in Europe since ancient times..[12] Perhaps most notably, there is a poem about him from the 15th Century known as Huon of BordeauxWP where he is described as a king of fairies who can use Magecraft to make any wish come true.[1][12] In summary, the character was inspired by an existing model, and that model would become the base for Oberon's Servant form.[12]
Appearance[]
He is popular because his appearance makes it look like he hails from the Wind Clan or the Wing Clan, clans considered elegant in the Fairy Country, but he is not actually a fairy.[1]
Personality[]
A gentle, engaged, and kind-hearted pacifist. Because of his thoughtful nature, he is cautious when it comes to carrying out his plans and strategies, but he never misses a chance to make his move. He can dominate any situation with strong aggression (or savagery, depending on how you look at it). A perfect prince of light, as if he were a character straight from a fairytale. At any rate, he is a sly story protagonist. He has the smile of an adult but still retains his boyish mannerisms; the power and executive function of an adult despite being a boyish dreamer. He is well-educated but doesn't boast about it, carries lofty ideals but doesn't force them on other people, is weak but does not submit to violence.[1]

Artoria Caster describes Oberon as very Merlin-esque.[12] He has a reputation in Faerie Britain for borrowing money and not returning it. He brought millions in counterfeit money to an auction.
Similar to Shakespeare, Oberon will do things because he thinks it fits the narrative. For example, he waited before finding Protagonist and Artoria Caster because he thought it would increase their Relationship Values. Unlike Shakespeare he's not doing it because it amuses him but because that's how he thinks stories work. Even though Titania is a fictional character who Shakespeare invented, Oberon is searching for her. Even if it's a pipe dream, he wants to meet Titania, the only person who could love the eccentric King Oberon.[14]

Abilities[]
In a sense, Oberon is the most famous Fairy in Proper Human History. His play written by William Shakespeare is the reason the word "faerie" is now synonymous with "mischievous Puck" and "narrow-minded King Oberon".[12]
Oberon has a decent knowledge of Magecraft, as he pretended to be Merlin to teach Artoria Caster for one year.[13][15][20][23] Whenever Artoria was by herself, "Merlin" taught her all kinds of Spells like Heating, Detection, Healing, Linguistics, Camouflage, Lockpicking, Stealth attacks, Explosives, and Obstacles.[23] Everything else she knows was self-taught.[5][20]
- Combat
Oberon claims that he is a passable fighter at best to keep all the attention on Artoria Caster and not him.[13][19] In reality, he is fairly capable in combat.[1][19] In fact, Senji Muramasa admits that Oberon was really good in the fight against Barghest, and that they wouldn't have won without him.[19] However, Oberon doesn't like pain, so he excels more in intelligence gathering and combat support.[1][19]
Oberon fights his bare hands, but he doesn't really hold his arm out and perform supernatural abilities. He focuses on rather crude close combat (kneeling on the ground, rolling around, closing in on his opponent), using various weapons made from dead insects. Examples include Hippolyta's spear (but shaped like a bow), Theseus's armor (but shaped like a spear), and Heracles' loincloth (but shaped like dual-wielding daggers).[8] During the events of the British Lostbelt, Oberon asked Senji Muramasa to make him a katana, claiming that he can't keep fighting with a tree branch forever. Just like other Fairies, Oberon is vulnerable to Iron, so he would just wear it on his waist for show because "it looks cool". In the end, Muramasa refused to make him even a bamboo sword because he wouldn't know how to use it.[19] Furthermore, Oberon is also vulnerable to Moss poison. However, he survived the Cernunnos Calamity thanks to Blanca taking all the curses directed at him. Doing this resulted in Blanca's death.[9]
Oberon faked his death after getting hit by an aerial attack fired by Morgan,[21] however, he didn't take any long-lasting damage.[9]
- Class Skills
- Territory Creation (E- Rank): The ability to create one's own workshop and base as a Mage. He used to be the king of the Fairy Forest, but his territory was lost over time and he has now become nothing more than a wanderer in stories. As a result, his Territory Creation skill is the lowest rank possible. Paradoxically, this skill shows that Oberon is now "all but a king in name only." Oberon keeps this a secret, and does his best to hide the fact that his Territory Creation rank is low.[1][8]
- Item Construction (A+ Rank): The ability to create items. He is the highest-ranking craftsman when it comes to items that deceive the mind such as the Tricolor Field Dew, which has even managed to curse the Fairy Queen Titania.[1][8]
- Riding (A Rank): History regarding British Fairies states that fairies ride on insects when they travel. Oberon is a king so he travels gracefully using his own wings, but when he is out of people's sight, he rides a hawk moth (at 130 km/h), speeding through the land and leading people's hearts.[1][8]
- Divinity (— Rank): Oberon's consort, Titania, is a Fairy created as a composite of various fairies and goddesses (Mab, Diana, and Titan) and has divinity as a result. But since Oberon is purely the "King of the Fairies" and not a composite being, he has not acquired any divinity.[1][8]

The affected Servant will gain an unparalleled rise in strength, but at the end of the turn they will lose all of its effects and sleep for eternity. ―Those who have lost their dreams, will never, hold the power to wake up back into reality again.[1][8] (Eternal sleep...also nullifies revival effects like Guts. Instead of the target exiting the party like a sacrifice, they will remain in the party as dead weight that wastes a slot. Worst demerit ever.)[8]

Robin Goodfellow[]
Rider Oberon, sometimes known as Robin GoodfellowWP (ロビングッドフェロー, Robin Guddoferō?), is an alternate form of Oberon he uses to travel around Faerie Britain.[14] By recruit moths for reconnaissance and shrinking himself to join them on their infiltration, he manifests this form. He becomes a bit more airheaded in his shrunken form.[15]
Abilities[]
Oberon can fly long distances on a Mach-speedWP Hawk moth.[14] He could travel across all of Britain in only two days.[15]
Insect of the Abyss[]
Oberon Vortigern's true essence is the Insect of the Abyss (奈落の虫, Naraku no mushi?, localized as "Abyssal Wyrm"), a giant Dragon that embodies the original Britain Island's will to destroy itself. Even though the original Britain island was destroyed 14,000 years ago, it was so sickened by the Fairies' unrepentant actions and not accepting their mistakes, in making a new Britain out of a murdered Cernunnos and other fairy corpses, along with their general self-serving way of life, that it desired to destroy the Fairy Kingdom's false Britain that continued existing after the original Vortigern's death. However, he states that although that destroying the false Britain the fairies made was Vortigern's purpose, Oberon's purpose is to destroy Human History due to finding everything disgusting, as well as for the sake of his lover Titania, a being that can only exist in fiction and thus opposed by Proper History.[9][3] Oberon Vortigern states he can no longer discern whether he or the Dragon is the true body.[9] The Insect of the Abyss exists everywhere the concept of "hole" exists, even in Proper Human History, but nothing that vicious will ever manifest there.[29]

Abilities[]
Kirschtaria Wodime regarded the British Lostbelt as a different but equally serious threat to the Alien God. A curse that would take down the planet with it.[30] Similarly, Merlin claimed that the Alien God wouldn't be able to stop "The Collapse", making him wonder if the match would be called off due to injury or if it would make it a tie game.[23]
Although Cernunnos wanted the Fairies punished, he didn't want them to all be destroyed;[22] even after betrayal and in death, he is still a protector of fairies.[9] To that end, until Cernunnos was destroyed completely, his very existence prevents the Insect of the Abyss from achieving their full power and destroying Fairy Britain and causing the Collapse:[9] an event that would cause high levels of magical energy pollution throughout Britain that cause all who touch it to lose their sense of self and go insane while rotting their body away. The Collapse would then lead to both vast numbers of Moss rising from the Great Pit, and a rapid-rise in Fairies and Humans being suddenly afflicted with Moss-sickness. Gravitational fluctuations, akin U-Olga Marie's psuedo-black hole, will strike at the heart of Britain, the Great Pit that is an entirely separate dimension like a bottomless pit of curses, and create a unobservable darkness akin to the darkest, abyssal depths,[22] before gravity stops working entirely, causing the island to rise like its going crash down,[9] before going on to destroy Proper Human History by having the planet collapse from its own gravitational pull.[11]
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Oberon Vortigern was designed by Chica UminoWP in Fate/Grand Order.
She was introduced to Fate/Grand Order by Mafia KajitaWP and became hooked on the game, and then Kajita introduced her to Kinoko Nasu, getting her the job designing Oberon. Oberon was her first time illustrating for a video game.
After their first meeting Chica Umino drew a bunch of rough sketches, asking if any of those would work for the character, and all of those could easily go in a picture book without needing any extra editing. She has a fear of insects, but despite this still bought an insect reference book while designing Oberon because according to her, if she wants her drawings to mean anything, she has to learn the real version's biology before she draws. Nasu could see her in pain every time she looked at a bug, but admired her work.[31]
Nasu's original plan for the British Lostbelt was a simple good vs evil story where Chaldea defeats Morgan and leaves, the end. But Nasu found himself not quite happy with that, such as wanting more character development for Mash and more clues leading toward the ending. When Umino was introduced to him, he decided it was his "now or never" chance and asked her to make Oberon. With Oberon present in the story Nasu had to take the story even deeper. All of that together is how he added to so many new elements that he oversized the story.[31]
That being said, Vortigern and Oberon were always planned to appear in some form, though it's unclear if they always would have been combined. In Nasu's alpha draft, Oberon was one of the leaders of a three-sided power struggle between his fairies, Morgan's fairies, and humans. One of the goals of the Lostbelt that Nasu noted down was "amputation of the land's Vortigern".[32]

It's been a week since the release of the Collapse Arc of Part 2, Chapter 6. This has turned out to be the longest main chapter we've published so far. Once again, allow me to thank all of the development staff at DelightWork, the creators who designed the Servants and drew the backgrounds, and of course, the staff of TYPE-MOON who for the past 3 months were like, "We already knew this would happen, so what do you need us to do?" and still put their heart and soul into making this happen. It's been a grand dream, and it couldn't have come true without every single one of you.
Now, then. Since it seems like many players have completed the story, I'll spill a bunch of details even if it might be a bit early.
First, I know you're probably asking why I'm calling it the Collapse Arc. Chapter 6 was structured into three parts: the First Arc, Second Arc, and Collapse Arc. During the stream right before the First Arc was released, it was compared to Kara no Kyoukai:
- First Arc: "Garan no Dou" from Kara no Kyoukai
- Second Arc: "Paradox Spiral" from Kara no Kyoukai
- Collapse Arc: "A Study in Murder (II)" from Kara no Kyoukai
...are what was meant by that. The supposed final boss also similarly left the stage in medias res. We intended to focus our resources on making the Collapse Arc, but the First and Second Arcs ballooned in volume, and we kept making more and more assets and stills for them until all three arcs grew to be impactful on their own. Also, I figured it wouldn't hurt to turn to the guy (company president) sitting next to me, whose hands were already full with the main work, and say,
"I waNT BRidE poSES for Mash. In TWO wEEks FRoM Now, IF yOU COuLD. FOrGivE ME. foRgiVE mE. FoRgIVe me THE sInS OF kInoKo."
I sent that message using (physical) telepathy and in reply, he stunned me with entirely new portraits instead of just pose variations, and a huge amount of facial expressions too.
"Well, that worked... Maybe I could ask for the three fairies and Mike, too... I'll ask BLACK-san to do the trio, and Simoshi-kun to work on Bogard! Oh yeah, I can ask Shimoshi-kun to squeeze in Mike, too! They designed Da Vinci, after all!"
And that's what we got. In the plot, Mike was only to have a faceless mob fairy portrait, but I wanted him to leave more of an impression. For Mike's design, I asked for "lines that make him feel like a mob even though he's not. He shouldn't stand out during the First Arc, but it'll be really meaningful during the Collapse." Thank you, Shimoshi! I'm really looking forward to swimsuit Da Vinci-chan!
The musical score this time was nearly three times that of a typical main story chapter, and KATE-kun fought until the very end to get that done.
"I'd like individualized battle themes for each Fairy Knight. The ____ in the Collapse Arc should have an arrangement of that... speaking of which, ____ should get the complete version. Try to think of the Fairy Knight battles as only the starting skirmishes."
"Hm, hm. The motifs of Lancelot and Gawain are easy enough to understand, but what about Tristan?"
"A girl's hysterical thoughts. A blood-drenched stage. A dance musical, a brilliant stage, the girl herself is hell, something like that. In the style of CCC's Alter Ego battles."
"Should I make ____'s theme orchestral since it's a boss battle?"
"You don't have to. It's supposed to be a girl's happy (dancing) dream, so it should be a cheerful melody with some tempo. The stage is part of the climax, so it should enrapture the audience and make them wish they were happy to have been born! Or something like that. Think like, the most exciting moment of your life. Even if it was all a dream."
"Oh, so that's why the stage spins round and round! I get it now! But can I say something? Why are you giving me such an awful job?"
By the way, speaking of the track "Land of Hope," it's actually the initial map theme that was submitted for Saber Wars 2. When KATE-kun gave it to us, I thought it would be too perfect for the end of Chapter 6, so I said,
"I want to use this in Chapter 6, so please keep this one under wraps for now. I think we should arrange it for Castoria's Noble Phantasm; give the players a taste of it so it'll sound familiar to them. At the very very end, I want to use an emotional arrangement of it. Thanks."
And that's how, for the past 2 years, I've listening to "Land of Hope" and thinking about Spring Memories whenever I was moving around. To me, that song is about seeking stars.
Okay, at this point people are going to start accusing me of rambling too much again, so I'll explain a bunch of trivia off the top of my head.
- ____ in the Garden of Lost Will
Regarding [the name of the imprisoned] in the Garden of Lost Will, the person that appears at the end is generally a person that you unconsciously feel is pointing out "the very hardest thing, the first thing that you yourself avoid confronting."
The Oberon that shows up at the end isn't the real one.
- Vivian of Orkney
The leader of the Rain Clan recognized their sins and offered the Fairy of Paradise their love and affection.
These were Vivian's warm childhood days.
A dimly lit yet warm castle sunroom, where the rain never stops.
The girl dreamed of a fairytale-like kingdom where she had no duty to Avalon, where everyone could live in peace.
- Caster of Avalon
Caster has no Spring Memories because, as the Fairy of Paradise, she had no fun memories to look back on. She wasn't allowed to have any.
But, Vivian might have experienced the same thing if she had returned to Paradise.
Still, Morgan had her memories of being lovingly raised in Orkney,
while Artoria had her memories of meeting her very first... traveling companions (friends), who had nothing to do with her duty as the Fairy of Paradise.
- Oberon's Retrospection
The person narrating Oberon's origins in Verse 30 is A.A.
Oberon is the one talking during the parts about day and night, "can you understand how ~~~ feels?"
but the third-person narration afterward is A.A. after becoming the Guardian of the Holy Swords and learning everything about Britain.
- The Star in the Hole
There's a scene in verse 30 about the Star in the Storm.
That was her final sprint, in the moment she vanished from the throne and became a Guardian.
"I've hit my goal if I just quit thinking and be a ____, right? If I keep trying, then they'll keep me working forever and ever, won't they?"
It's the choice she made after asking herself that question.
And the result, as you can see, was space-time jumping shenanigans.
- Merlin
If this guy ever teaches you magic, it'll only be in your dreams.
I know this sounds cruel, but to Merlin, the only Artoria is the King of Knights.
- About those red-colored choices
It isn't the case that either one of the answers is correct.
I don't think it's good to have a big schism where the reader keeps noticing things that the protagonist doesn't.
So, all I did was make your choices have a tangible result in the end, if earlier in the story you thought, "wait, that doesn't sound right" or "that's not really it, is it?".
I colored them red to make that easier to understand, but I picked the color red to make it a bit more ominous, too...
- Oberon's Final Readvent
I also leveled Oberon up to his final form last night, and I had them stop the ascension fanfare from playing while he says his line. I think the late-night update on the 11th patched that in.
"More importantly, why does my flavor text suddenly change after bond 6? Why, I wonder? Why do you think? Make sure you read the prince's flavor text before then, okay?☆"
- By the way, regarding his remarks to Nursery Rhyme:
With a smile, he offers, "After those ____ and readers are gone, why don't we find a nice, quiet world where everyone's perspective is equally important, and have a tea party together?"
To which she gently smiles and declares, "I'm so sorry, my wonderful prince. But, I love to see all of our readers radiant and happy."
As he watches her turn to leave, he would reply "yeah, go figure" with a sardonic laugh and narrowed eyes.
- Some final notes on the chronology
1000 B.C.
A Returned A-Ray is born among the Fang Clan - Wryneck the Brave, inheritor of organs of the waste heat of the planet.
800 B.C.
Tonelico fights and triumphs over Waste Heat Lord Wryneck. They become fast friends.
Henceforth, Wryneck does not accompany Tonelico on her adventures due to his position as the Chief of the Fang Clan, but does everything he can to help her from behind the scenes.
He rationalizes it as, "I can never accept the mission of the Fairy of Paradise, but I'm fond of Tonelico's strength." (To Ector, his feelings are as clear as day)
400 B.C.
The fabled Arbitration, one day before the coronation at Londinium.
In attendance are Uther, Tonelico, Ector, Grimm, and the First Fairy Knight.
Wryneck can't stand Uther (for obvious reasons) and refuses to attend the coronation. Instead, he goes off to hunt Mors on the western coast.
"But... even if I send a delegate, it would be poor form if the Fang Lord didn't show up, wouldn't it..."
On the dawn of Coronation Day, Wryneck reluctantly makes up his mind to return to Londinium.
Everything is over by the time he arrives.
Politics prevent Wryneck from defending Tonelico as all of the fairies accuse her. Wryneck comes to agonize over his decision for the rest of his life into the Queen's Era.
"Maybe if I had been there, things would have been different... No. Nothing would have changed. Nothing at all. I, a fairy of Britain, could never have saved Tonelico."
1000 A.D.
The Great Calamity, the Mors Campaign, begins.
Aged Wryneck takes to the battlefield, his resolve grim.
"Begone, King of the Mors. This is her nation, the land she suffered so much to build. I'll never let you take it from her."
So falls the greatest of the Fang Clan, clearing the way for the next generation.2021/8/12 : 無題。（きのこ）
２部６章崩壊編が公開されてから一週間が経過しました。
過去最長のメイン章になってしまいましたが、無事完成した事、
改めてＤＷ開発スタッフの皆さん、サーヴァントデザイン、
背景美術に参加してくれたクリエイターの皆さん、そしてラスト３ヵ月、
「そうなると分かってたよ、はい、なにやればいいの？」
と全面協力してくれたＴＭスタッフに感謝します。
誰か一人でも欠けていたら達成できなかった、夢のような一大キャンペーンでした。
さて。多くのユーザーさんがクリアされているようなので、
ちょっと早い気もしますが、こちらも全体通しての裏話などを。
『そもそも崩壊編って呼び方、なに？』という疑問。分かります。
６章は前編・後編・崩壊編、の三部構成になっていました。
前編直前ＳＰで『空の境界』に喩えていましたが、
・前編：空の境界でいう 伽藍の洞 まで
・後編：空の境界でいう 矛盾螺旋 まで
・崩壊編：空の境界でいう 殺人考察（後） まで
といった具合です。ラスボスが途中で退場するのも同じですね。
崩壊編にすべてのリソースがいくよう執筆していたのですが、
前編・後編もボリューミーになってしまい、素材も増え、スチルも増え……
結果、どの編もリッチな、思い入れの深いものになりました。
ダメ元で、メイン作業でパツパツの隣の席の男（社長）に、
「マシュ 花嫁差分 ホシイ。
デキレバ 二週間後ニ ホシイ。
ユルサレヨ ユルサレヨ キノコノ罪ヲ ユルサレヨ」
とテレパシー（物理）を送ったら立ち絵差分じゃなくてまるっと新規、
かつ沢山の表情差分がきた時はワシは心底痺れたよ。
「言ってみるもんだな……。
なら妖精三人組とマイクもいけそうだな……。
BLACKさんに三人組を、ボガードをシモシ君にお願いしよう！
そうだ、シモシ君にはマイクもねじこむといいぞぅ！ ダ・ヴィンチ担当だしね！」
結果ああなった。
マイクはプロットではモブ妖精の立ち絵だったのですが、
どうしてもピンでほしかった。なので
『モブっぽく見えるけどモブではないラインで。
前編では目立たないけど、崩壊編で大切な意味を持つ』とデザインしてもらいました。
サンキュー、シモシ！ 水着ダ・ヴィンチちゃん、楽しみだね！
今回はBGMも通常メイン章の三倍近くあり、
作曲のケータ君はギリギリまで戦ってくれました。
「妖精騎士にはそれぞれバトルBGMを用意してほしい。
崩壊編の○○たちは、そのBGMのアレンジ……というより、
完成形は○○の方。妖精騎士戦はあくまで前哨、と思ってくれ」
「ふむふむ。ランスロとガウェインはそれぞれモチーフ分かりやすいからいいけど、トリスタンは？」
「少女狂想。血まみれの舞踏会。ダンスミュージック、
キラキラ舞踏会、本人は地獄、みたいな。CCCのエゴバトル風味」
「○○の時はボスだからオーケストラにしていいの？」
「しなくていい。『少女が見ている、幸せな夢（踊っている）』なので、
華やかで、スピード感のある曲が好ましいです。
ステージもクライマックスで、客席もみんな見蕩れていて、
“私、生まれてきて良かった！”な感じの。
人生の中でいちばんアがっている……みたいな。まあ全部夢なんだけど」
「ああ、だからステージがグルグルまわってるのか！ なるほどねー！
でもひとついい？ なんでそんなひどい注文してくるの？」
ところで『希望の地』のBGMなんですけど、これ、
実はセイバーウォーズ２の時、最初にあがってきたMAP曲なんです。
ケータ君からこれが上がってきた時、
想定していた６章の最後にあまりにもピッタリだったので
「これ、６章で使うから封印させてください。
アルキャスの宝具はこのBGMのアレンジで、先に出してユーザーの耳に馴染ませたいと思います。
あと最後の最後にこの曲のハートフルなアレンジを使いたいので、その時はよろしくお願いします」
そんなワケで、この２年間、移動中はずっと『希望の地』の
BGMを聴きながら春の記憶に思いを馳せていました。
あのBGMは、自分的にスターシーカーな曲なのです。
……と、こんな調子で書いていたらまた容量オーバーのそしりを
受けるのでパパッと思いつく範囲で小ネタの説明などしていきます。
・失意の庭の○○○○
失意の庭の（囚われたモノの名前）で、最後に出てくるヤツはたいてい、
『自分自身、一番つらくて、一番目を背けているコト』を指摘してくだろうなぁ、と
無意識に感じている人物になります。
最後に出てきたオベ公は本人じゃないよ。
・オークニーのヴィヴィアン
罪を認め、楽園の妖精に愛を注いだ雨の氏族の長。
ヴィヴィアンのあたたかな幼年期。
雨だれの止まない、ほの暗いけれど温かな王城のサンルーム。
楽園の使命ではなく、
誰もが穏やかに暮らせる、童話のような王国を夢見た少女。
・アヴァロンのキャスター
キャスターに春の記憶がないのは『楽園の妖精』として
楽しかった記憶は無かった、与えられなかった、というコト。
もしヴィヴィアンが楽園に帰ってきていたら同じ展開だったかもしれない。
でもモルガンには大切に育てられたオークニーの記憶が、
アルトリアには名なしの森で出会った、はじめての……楽園の妖精の使命とはまったく関係のない……旅の仲間（トモダチ）との記憶。
・オベロンの回想
30節でオベロンの成り立ちを語っているのはＡ・Ａ。
朝と夜、それぞれの出だしの「～の気持ちがわかるかい？」はオベロンの語りですが、
それ以降の「三人称での語り」は、聖剣の守護者になってブリテンの事情すべてを知ったＡ・Ａの語りです。
・奈落の星
30節にある『嵐の中の星』のシーン。
あれは『玉座で消滅した彼女』が、『守護者』になる時の最後の疾走です。
「もう何も考えずにここで○○になればゴールだよ？ それ以上頑張ると永遠に頑張る事になるよ？」
という問いかけに対しての選択。
その結果、まあ、時空とか超越してスパッと。
・マーリン
こいつが魔術を教えるとしたら、それは夢の中だけ。
残酷な話だけど、マーリンにとってアルトリアは騎士王のアルトリアなんだ。
・赤字の選択肢について
どっちが正解、とかはありません。
読者は気づいているのに主人公は気づいていない、という乖離はよくないので、
「え、それおかしくない？」「もしかしてそういう事じゃない？」と
思ったユーザーの選択が、最後にカタチになっただけです。
分かりやすくするために色違いにしたんですが、赤字はちょっと禍々しかったですね……。
・オベロンの最終再臨。
自分も昨夜、最終再臨したんだけど、再臨ボイス中にずっとファンファーレが
鳴っているのを止めてもらいました。11日深夜の更新はたぶん、その変更だと思います。
「そんな事より、僕はなぜか絆６でフレーバーがガラッと変わっちゃうんだ。
どうしてかなー？ どうしてだろうねー？
きみ、それまでに王子様なフレーバーは見ておくんだぞ☆」
ちなみにナーサリーへのコメントですが、
『一緒に読者なんて○○どもが消えた後、誰の主観も偏見も入らない穏やかな世界で、一緒にお茶会をしないかい？』
と誘ったら笑顔で
『ごめんなさい、素敵な王子様。あたし、読み手のみんなの輝く顔が大好きなの』
と優しい笑顔で告げて去って行くナーサリーの後ろ姿を、
『まあ、そうだろうと思ったよ』
なーんて、皮肉げに笑って、目を細そめて見送っているのです。

トネリコ、排熱大公ライネックと戦い、勝利。ふたりは友人に。

表だってトネリコの旅には同行しなかったが、陰日向、トネリコの為に力を尽くす事になる。
「楽園の妖精の使命とは相容れないが、トネリコの強さは気に入った」

ロンディニウムの戴冠式、その前日。調停式。
出席したのはウーサー、トネリコ、エクター、グリム、初代妖精騎士。
ライネックはウーサーが気に入らない（理由は言うまでもない）ので
戴冠式には出席せず、モース狩りと称してひとり西の海岸に。
「……しかし、だ。代理を立てたとはいえ、やはり牙の長が出席しないというのも……問題があるな……」
ライネック、戴冠式を迎えた朝にそう決意してロンディニウムへ。
ふてくされて戻ってきた時、すべては終わっていた。
トネリコを糾弾する氏族たち。立場上トネリコの味方はできず、以後、
ライネックは女王歴までこの時の判断に苦しむ事になる。
「もしオレがいたのなら何か変わっていたのだろうか……
……いや。
何も変わらなかっただろう。何も。
ブリテンの妖精であるオレでは、トネリコを救う事は、できなかった」

大災厄。モース戦役、始まる。
老いたライネック、死を覚悟した戦いに。
「消え去るがいい、モースの王。
ここはようやく手に入れた、アイツの國だ。……もう決して、奪わせはしない」
